Baseball is America’s past time. Movies are a close second. With so many commercial theatres, sometimes it’s easy to get sick of the AMCs and the Cinemarks. What if I told you there was an excellent locally owned theatre in Kansas City that provided you with all the benefits of a commercial theatre, but with added bonuses and a less commercial vibe? Well, there is!
Located off Swift Avenue and Armour Boulevard in North Kansas City, the Screenland doors open to a fully stocked bar, board games, and a slew of arcade games.
The beer selection is one of the best of any movie theatre in the metro, and the theatre shows some of the most popular movie releases as well as some of the best independent releases every year. The theatre also holds several events and festivals every year, including Panic Fest, one of the best horror movie festivals in the Midwest.
The two theatres are located in the back of the space. Theatre two holds just over 40 patrons with a cozy atmosphere, and theatre one is home to several rows of stadium seated chairs and two rows of couches for a more homey, relaxed atmosphere. There is even an Oscar man to open the curtains that cover the screen. We are not including THOSE pictures in the blog. You will have to check it out for yourself!
